Exciting field improvements to Central park in 2019.

Dear parents, players and coaches.

This Spring Cicero Little league will have two upgraded fields for baseball and softball play. The Taylor Fleming softball field has been upgraded with a new backstop, expanded fencing down the baselines, gates, dugout fencing, and improved concrete-floor dugouts. More importantly, the field size had been expanded, drainage has been improved, and new high-quality field mix was graded onto the field. It’s hard to win the battle against spring weather in Cicero, NY but this new drainage and field mix will give us a fighting chance!

Many thanks to the numerous volunteers and to the town of Cicero helped make this project a reality. Fleming field will be used primarily for softball games. When available, A, AA and T-ball games will played on the field as well courtesy of a grant from Honda of America for portable two portable pitcher’s mounds.

The second field, currently known as field 2, is a baseball field located behind the concession stand. This field, which had gone fallow, was rebuilt for play at all levels from T-Ball to 50/70 Intermediate baseball. In 2017 sod was laid in the infield. Last year, the field was expanded and graded with high-quality field mix. This spring the field will be finished when the base anchors are installed. This field will provide a much-needed extra venue for practices and games. The 2nd portable pitcher’s mound we received courtesy of the Honda America grant will be used on this field.

I would like to thank all the volunteers, sponsors, and board members who helped to get these fields ready for play. Our league is fortunate to have individuals who dedicate countless hours to our league and sponsors who provide us with resources to make projects like this possible.
