13u Sweeps Double Header

Cicero Little League's 13u Intermediate team treated their fans to a sun and fun-filled day of baseball on Sunday (7/7), sweeping Geddes in a double header.

In game 1, Alex Smith started on the mound, giving up 3 runs in 4 innings with 7 strikeouts. Jacob Calabria came in for the save, giving up 3 runs in 2 innings with 3 strikeouts. Michael Mooney played the entire game at catcher.

Hits in the first game came from Alex Smith, Nicholas Capece, Jacob Calabria, Drew Matyasik, and Jimmy Zampini.

Nicholas Capece notched a 4-bagger, bringing in 3 runs. He ended the day with 5 RBI’s and 1 run on 2 hits. His long throw from center field to third ended in a tag that sealed the fate of the Geddes team in the 1-run loss and helped earn him the game MVP.

Runs on the day came from Capece, Smith, Calabria, Matyasik, Zampini and Alysa Mooney.

Jacob Calabria sent one over 200-feet, extending his streak of long balls, which included a home run @Syracuse last week.

The final score was 7-6 Cicero in game 1.

In game 2, Jacob Calabria started on the mound. He gave up 4 runs in 4 innings, striking out 6. Ryan Keil got the save, pitching for 1 inning, giving up 1 run and striking out 2.

Daniel Capp worked behind the plate for the entire game with a performance that included a snap-throw that caught a runner leading off at third.
