Now is a great time to volunteer. By helping out, you make it easier on your friends and neighbors who also volunteer to help -- and you make you and your loved one's Little League experience more fun and rewarding.
Here are 10 great reasons to volunteer for Little League:
#10: It's good for you too...
Volunteering provides physical and mental rewards. It reduces stress and makes you healthier. You'll feel good about yourself because you're helping others.
#9: Volunteers gain professional experience
You can test out a career! Landscaping, food service, coaching, advertising sales, management, human resources, sports commentator, public speaking, mechanics, public relations and more.
#8: It brings people together...
As a volunteer, you interact with people from diverse backgrounds and work toward a common goal (very interesting). You help build camaraderie and teamwork. Volunteering promotes personal growth and self esteem (good for you!). Understanding community needs helps foster empathy and self-efficacy for you and your family.
#7: You learn a lot...
Volunteers discover hidden talents that may change their view on self worth. Volunteers learn about the functions and operation of local government. Volunteers gain knowledge of local resources available to solve community needs.
#6: You get a chance to give back...
How much have you gotten out of youth sports and activities? Supporting community resources that you use or that benefit people you care about helps others and feels GREAT. You may have benefited from those who have volunteered - now is a great time to do it too.
#5: Volunteering encourages your civic responsibility
Volunteerism is an investment in your family, community and the people who live in it.
#4: You make a difference
Every person counts! Everything you do to help, no matter how small, helps. It's that simple. Mow a field, hand out some candy at the concessions stand, keep score during a game, rake an infield, announce a game, serve a Slushie, hang a banner, help coach a team, manage a team - whatever you can do will help.
#3 - Save Money
The league has to spend a lot of money on things that volunteers can easily do. We have to spend a lot of money on field repairs that could be done by just a dozen volunteers. Those funds could instead be used to pay for things our kids can really use (like a field cover during the rainy season?).
#2 - Respect and Admiration
Volunteer... and your kids will think you are awesome. Simple as that. Other parents and families will be grateful and let you know it -- further confirmation of how awesome you are for stepping up to help. When it's so easy to be awesome, you have no reason not to be.
#1 - For the Kids
At the end of the day, everything we do is for the kids. No kidding. Help us provide a big league experience to the children in our community. It's a good thing.
